About the Farm
LX Farms was founded by 2 best friends who both have a lot of experience in the cannabis industry. One of these friends, Shane, has been working in the medical cannabis industry since 2009 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. During this time, Shane traveled the U.S attending and speaking at cannabis trade shows and expos. Shane has grown weed on and off for several years and has even run a few dispensaries as well. Now, he is a single father and co-owner of LX Farms. His best friend Josh has been growing cannabis for almost 2 decades, all while obtaining his master’s degree from UNM. His knowledge and growing experience have led him and Shane to start breeding their own genetics. With their skills combined, they are the ultimate cannabis duo.
Shane and Josh started LX Farms way back before the days of recreational cannabis. They started it as a hemp farm, but that wasn’t the plan for the long haul. Ultimately, they knew that cannabis was on track to becoming recreationally available. So, starting as a hemp farm gave them the opportunity to do some test runs and get some experience in their newly built facility. Once the ball dropped and cannabis became recreationally legal, LX Farms became what it was destined to be in May of 2022. This family-owned farm is run by Shane and Josh with the help of two cousins. Together, these four run and do everything all on their own. They are truly passionate about well-rounded, high-quality cannabis.
About the Grow
At LX Farms, they pride themselves on being very natural-based and clever and never use pesticides. In terms of what you can expect to see on the shelves, LX Farms currently sells wholesale flower and shake. However, they plan to offer more products in the near future. They want to release some special pre-rolls and their own unique spin on rosin. For growing, they use a peat moss/pearlite medium in an indoor hydroponic setup with double-ended HPS lights.
About the Team
When asked how cannabis has impacted his life, Shane says that it has positively influenced him in so many ways. He thanks cannabis for allowing him to pursue this passion and feels blessed to have this opportunity. Not only to be selling legal cannabis but to experience the benefits of cannabis first-hand. He says it saved his life! Now, he’s able to share the wonderful benefits of cannabis with his community down in New Mexico thanks to LX Farms.
In terms of what inspired Shane and Josh to start growing, the answer is pretty simple. They were tired of buying it! So, they continued growing cannabis in pursuit of their dreams of owning a farm. Ultimately, their goal with LX farms is to not only provide quality cannabis but to educate and help others. They have even created some of their own strains to help and target their needs. So, in the end, the goal at LX Farms is to focus on health, care, and their long-time passion.
Currently, LX Farms offers a few in-house strains like NMBM Purps, Oroku Saki, and Tangie Head Change in addition to a few others like Kraft and Manzano Express for a total of 10 in-house strains.
