Pest-Management
At Raven Grass, they believe in truth and transparency. That’s why all of the nutrients and pest deterrents they apply to their plants have been approved in accordance with the National Organic Program’s National List of Allowed and Prohibited Substances. Their Integrated Pest Management (IPM) strategies include physical, biological, and chemical controls that work together to minimize the impact of pests including insects, bacteria, and fungal spores. When forming an IPM strategy, they look to minimize and eliminate the need for chemical controls. This is done by forming good practices and creating a healthy ecosystem that is naturally resistant to pests. Raven Grass makes use of biopesticides and predator insects that work in combination with their biological approach to building healthy living soil to eliminate the impact of these pests.
Strain Classification
At Raven Grass, they classify their strains by chemotype. A chemotype is a chemical profile. Most often, chemotype has referred to cannabinoid type. This view is based on the historical importance that has been placed on the cannabinoid, though some are now appreciating that terpenoids are important for both organoleptic appeal and therapeutic value. Raven Grass finds that speaking about cannabis according to this typology is more honest and accurate communication to consumers than grouping by indica, sativa, and hybrids.
Type 01 | THC Predominant
A Type 01 strain is one whose THC content is more prevalent than any other cannabinoid. Raven Grass breaks this category down even further by detailing the specific effects you may get from smoking one of these strains. You have the strong strains that get you super stoned and tend to have a heady high, the bright strains that are light and rare, and the chill strains that will give you a meditative body high. Strains they offer in this type include the strong Durban Poison, the bright Maui Wowie, and the chill Granddaddy Purple.
Type 02 | Mixed CBD:THC Ratio
Up next, Type 02 strains are those that have a fairly balanced ratio of CBD to THC. This type has four sub-categories; The healing strains that take you to your roots with a high that has you looking inwards and leaves you in touch with your feelings, the bright strains that leave you euphoric and wanting to “go, do, see, be”, the wonder inspiring strains with a high that will spark creativity and debate, and the chill strains that will help you recover, rest and unwind. Strains they offer in this type include the healing Frida, the bright Dancing Queen Blend, the wonder-inspiring Golden Goddess Blend, and the chill Star Gazer Myrtle.
Type 03 | CBD Predominant
Moving forward, Type 03 strains are CBD predominant and tend to have a very minimal THC content. These strains all fall under the healing subcategory. They tend to be an easier smoke that will balance you out without getting you super stoned.Two strains they offer in this type are ACDC and Dinamed.
Type 04 | CBG Predominant
Next, Type 04 strains have a predominant CBG content. Like CBD, CBG is another non-psychoactive cannabinoid found in cannabis. It tends to be more of an anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial component and doesn’t provide the same stress relief factor as CBD. Raven Grass doesn’t really carry any products that fall under this category, but they still make note that flower like this does exist.
Type 05 | Cannabinoid Null
The rarest of types, Type 05 refers to cannabis with no prevalent cannabinoid content. This type of plant doesn’t have much use in recreational or medicinal cannabis, but it is an interesting species to use as a reference plant in clinical trials and studies when a control is needed with compounds and characteristics of the cannabis plant without the cannabinoids. Like Type 04, Raven Grass does not carry Type 05 products.

Lone Desert Pony Pre-Rolls
An afterwork go-to of mine, Lone Desert Pony Pre-rolls come in a 3 pack of 0.6g joints. Each joint comes in at 9.87% THC and 4.24% CBD. With a 2:1 ratio of THC to CBD, these bad boys have a motivating effect and would probably be considered a bright Type 02 strain. Just like all of their other pre-rolls, these smokes come in a nifty little amber glass vial.
Cosmic Charlie Pre-Rolls
Cosmic Charlie is a Type 02 strain with a THC content of 7.6% and a CBD content of 9.9%. This relaxing strain of pre-rolls comes in a 2 pack of 0.5g infused pre-rolls. These pre-rolls are a personal favorite of mine and often end up being my after-work smoke. The CBD content makes for a perfect entourage effect experience.
The Lite Pre-Rolls
Another favorite of yours truly, this pre-rolls falls under Type 03 with a CBD content of 12.8% and a THC content of 0.5%. These pre-rolls come in packs of 3 with each joint coming in at 0.6g. I personally find these to be great after already smoking some THC or smoking them on a day when you really don’t feel like getting high. With a THC content under 1%, this really doesn’t get you high at all. I took an involuntary 5-month T-break and even with my tolerance being the lowest it’s ever been these little guys didn’t get me high much at all. They were, however, an extremely pleasant and light smoke on a work night.
Purple Trainwreck Flower
Purple Trainwreck is a Type 01 hybrid strain that comes from crossing Trainwreck with Mendocino Purps. This strain is known for providing a stimulating, cerebral high that’s anchored in physical relaxation. Purple Trainwreck has a rich aroma of bright citrus, pine, and lavender. This is a great strain to chill out with right before bed.
Blackberry Kush Flower
Blackberry Kush is a primarily indica-dominant Type 01 strain with the pungent, hashy aroma of Himalayan spice and jet fuel mixed with a hint of blackberries. This tasty hybrid is considered a pleasant, cough-free smoke that slowly induces a relaxing sedation as it pulls the user onto the couch.
Blueberry Trainwreck Flower
Lastly, Blueberry Trainwreck is a fairly potent Type 01 strain boasting a 24% THC content. The high from this bud will have you feeling tranquil, clear-headed, and overall positive. This strain is most likely a sativa-dominant daytime hybrid of, you guessed it, Blueberry and Trainwreck. Even high-tolerance users are urged to dose wisely as this sweet, blueberry skunk strain’s effects often slow things way down.
