Movie: Beetlejuice

Another classic one of the best not-so-scary Halloween movies is Beetlejuice. Beetlejuice is a dark fantasy comedy horror and a cult classic. The story begins with a young married couple, Barbara and Adam as they spend their vacation decorating their countryside home. However, as they are driving home one day they swerve off of the road to avoid a dog. After returning home, sopping wet from falling into the river, Barbara and Adam discover that they actually died in the crash. Soon, the house is sold and a new family, the Deetz’, moves in. Disgruntled by the family’s decision to redecorate the house, Adam and Barbara call upon freelance bio-exorcist “Betelgeuse”. They soon realize they’ve made a mistake once they meet him. But, they’re too late to stop him from wreaking havoc on the Deetz household.
Strain: Ghost OG

To pay homage to the self-proclaimed “ghost with the most”, we think you should smoke Ghost OG while you watch Beetlejuice. Ghost OG is an indica-dominant strain that crosses Aghani Indica with OG Kush. The high from this strain tends to take hold pretty quickly with a strong head buzz. As your head is buzzing your nerves begin to slowly calm down as a sense of cheery delight washes over you. In terms of smell, this strain has a strong but pleasant aroma with notes of citrusy lemon. The taste is just as pleasant as it smells, with a blend of Kush and sweet lime flavors.
Movie: The Monster Squad

Next up on our list of not-so-scary Halloween movies is The Monster Squad. The Monster Squad is a horror comedy that follows a club of pre-teens called “The Monster Squad”. The club is dedicated to celebrating and idolizing the Universal classic monster movies like Dracula and Frankenstein. One day, club leader Sean is given the diary of legendary monster hunter Dr. Abraham Van Helsing. Unfortunately, upon opening it he realizes the entire diary is written in German. With the help of a man they call the “Scary German Guy”, the club is able to translate the contents of the diary. It’s then that they learn of an amulet that they must seek out to protect to prevent the balance of good and evil from falling into chaos. However, they face the challenge of guarding this amulet from Dracula who aims to use it to take over the world.
Strain: Van Helsing

As a nod to Dr.Abraham Van Helsing, we think you should smoke the strain Van Helsing while watching The Monster Squad. Van Helsing is an indica-dominant hybrid strain that crosses GMO with Purple Punch. The high starts to build subtly in the back of your mind as you begin to feel calm but happy. Next, a soothing body high comes on as you inevitably fall into a state of couch-lock. In terms of flavor, this strain has a sweet and fruity grape flavor with a punch of spicey diesel and gas on the exhale. The aroma is spicy and earthy with hints of winey grapes and pungent diesel.
Movie: Lisa Frankenstein

The final movie on our list of not-so-scary Halloween movies is Lisa Frankenstein. Lisa Frankenstein is a comedy horror film set in the 1980s that follows a teenager named Lisa. Lisa is a social outcast who tends to spend a lot of her free time at a local cemetery. One night, Lisa goes to the grave of a young man who died in 1837 and talks to it to air out her frustrations. Once she leaves, a bolt of lightning strikes the man’s grave and resurrects him as a zombie. The man later breaks into her house. Initially, Lisa is terrified until she recognizes him as the man whose grave she dotes on. Soon, Lisa and the man begin to work together to obtain people’s body parts to replace his missing ones. Throughout their time together, Lisa and the man begin to fall in love.
Strain: Frankenstein

As a tribute to this Frankenstein-esque tale of the living dead, we recommend you smoke the strain Frankenstein while you watch Lisa Frankenstein. Frankenstein is an indica-dominant hybrid that is famous for its high potency. Frankenstein’s genetics are shrouded in mystery, but it’s thought to be a descendant of OG Kush. Smoking this strain will have you feeling heavy but active as a feeling of couch-luck and munchies set in. On the first hit, you’ll feel an uplifting euphoria that quickly fades into a relaxed head high. As the high continues, you’ll fall into a state of laziness as well as a distant spacey introspection. In terms of smell, this strain has a delicious sweet mango aroma with a similar taste that is accented by notes of citrus.
