Bacon’s Buds is a family-operated farm that began growing cannabis medically in 2011. Their close-knit crew of family and friends operates their farm in the hills of Washougal. They are incredibly passionate about the plant itself and say that it enhances their lives on so many levels. They believe that “from helping with physical ailments to providing a fresh new perspective on the many difficult challenges life has to offer, cannabis is here to help us.” They also believe that health is wealth. This is why it’s their mission to grow in the cleanest, most organic environment possible. As a result of this practice, they bring out all the flavors and effects this plant has to offer. Chiefly, they place a major focus on flavor, smoothness, and potency. Their goal is to have you feel the same love for cannabis that they do when you smoke their flower!

 

Growing Process

At Bacon’s Buds, all of their cannabis is grown in small batches to have more control over the consistency and quality of their crops. They utilize raised plant beds and only plant with certified organic soil. Their beds are also teeming with worms and other beneficial organisms that help to keep the soil aerated and well-mixed, while also preventing pests.  This naturally occurring pest prevention allows them to grow without the need or use of any pesticides.

After every crop, they test their soil so that they can optimally amend nutrients back into it. This minimizes wasted soil and allows them to grow consistently phenomenal crops. They are also able to draw water from a pristine aquifer. This gives them the ability to water their plants with some of the cleanest water the world has to offer. Furthermore, since they don’t use any salt-based nutrients or pesticides, all excess water is free of harmful chemicals and drained so that it can be recycled back into its source. As a result of these growing practices, Bacon’s Buds cultivates an environment that supports a sustainable ecosystem. This ecosystem is thriving with beneficial organisms and happy plants that produce amazing cannabis grown the way nature intended.

 

Pest Prevention Protocol

For the sustainability of their healthy plants, Bacon’s Buds implements a regimen of natural oils, healthy bacteria, beneficial organisms, and natural plant cleansers to prevent any potential pathogens and pests from taking hold in their grow facility. All of the products they use are approved by either OMRI or WSDA for use in organic agriculture. Bacon’s Buds also makes use of beneficial organisms. They employ the use of cucumeris, rove beetles, hypoapsis, and nematodes in their living soil and ecosystem. These insects seek and destroy any pests that may be present in the ecosystem.

Bacon’s Buds grow in a facility that was built exclusively to produce cannabis. It utilizes Energy Star rated insulation, water-cooled A/C, and LEC vegetation lights for a minimized carbon footprint. They also use state-of-the-art climate control equipment that keeps conditions constantly where they want them all day, every day. This furthers their ability to get the best yield, potency, and overall quality from their plants.

Bacon’s Buds is also a family of connoisseurs who are on a constant search for the best genetics and strains they can find. All of their strains are single-source. This means they hunt for all of their own strains from seeds. As a result, all of their genetics are exclusive to Bacon’s Buds. While doing their pheno hunts, they have a list of attributes a strain must have to make it into their lineup. They want all of their genetics to have a potent effect, great smell, and most importantly a smooth and delectable flavor. They take pride in providing a unique and exotic smoking experience with each of their strains.

In addition to a love for cannabis and all of its amazing effects, Bacon’s Buds also loves the planet. In addition to growing sustainably, they also donate a portion of their profits to a couple of charities. One of those charities is the International Elephant Foundation, which supports the conversation of elephants worldwide. Another charity they donate to is Oceania Ocean Conservation Group, which works to support ocean conservation worldwide.

In terms of flavor, this strain has hints of sweet nutty vanilla, creamy blueberry, and fresh pine.
