CBD as Skincare
Did you know that smoking weed gets you high? Even if you’ve never tried it yourself, popular lyrics like “Smoke weed erryday!” and “I smoked two joints before I smoked two joints, and then I smoked some more” tell you that lighting one up is the conventional way to enjoy cannabis. However, cannabis is being redefined and we are starting to see that it can be used in other ways too. Other ways that don’t even have to get you intoxicated or “high” such as using it as skincare.
Cannabis skincare is the new wave and I’m all for the ride. I know that sounds corny but hear me out. Waves are naturally occurring and make you feel peaceful. Surfing might be hard at first but once you catch that wave, you feel so good and powerful. It’s the same way with switching your normal skincare routine with CBD infused cannabis products. The CBD cannabis products that I am going to tell you about today are made with natural organic ingredients which will give you peace of mind knowing that you’re not putting any random harsh chemicals on your skin. As for the surfing metaphor… change is always hard at first but once you make the easy (and cheap) switch to topical CBD products, you’re going to be glad you did.
Wildflower Infused Soap
First things first, soap. Cleaning is the first step to achieving healthier skin and the infused soap by Wildflower is perfect for that. Wildflower comes with vanilla or lavender-scented soaps. There is a large advantage of using CBD infused soaps because they will lack the harsh industrial chemicals that most generic soap brands will have. The first time I tried the Wildflower soap, I was so satisfied with how it leaves that “squeaky clean” feeling as you wash it off. It only contains 4 ingredients: coconut oil, lye, essential oil, and the extracted cannabis oil. Just by looking at the product and the final well-polished packaging efforts, you can tell that Wildflower wants to be viewed as a classy, natural, and professional brand. This product is a great gift you can give to someone who wants to try a well-qualified, CBD skincare brand.
Now that you’ve washed your skin, you’re going to want to moisturize! My favorite moisturizing products that I’ve tried are the Skin Rescue Salve by Mr. Moxey and the High CBD Skin Care by Bodhi High. Our skin is the largest organ on our body and it has a semipermeable membrane that can absorb nearly anything that is applied to it. This process called transdermal absorption means that ingredients can penetrate the outer layer of your skin to reach the bloodstream to deliver specific effects. However, through this process, it will not cross the blood-brain barrier so there is no risk of experiencing any psychoactive effects or getting “high.”
Mr. Moxey Skin Rescue Salve
This is an all-natural, gluten-free, and non-GMO balm. It’s ingredients include but are not limited to avocado oil, shea butter, vitamin E, and CBD extracted oil. Click here to read their full ingredients list. Every balm has 200mg of CBD and it comes packaged in a 1oz tin that you can easily take with you wherever you go. It leaves your skin feeling moisturized and full of oils and will be a great option for keeping your skin hydrated during the dry months. Personally, I like to keep my tin in my purse at all times to remoisturize after washing my hands or to treat my dry cuticles with.
This is another all-natural skincare product with a consistency that is similar to the Skin Rescue by Mr. Moxey. Its ingredients include but are not limited to coconut oil, tea tree oil, emu oil and cannabis extracted oil. Click here to read their full ingredients list. I love that it contains emu oil as it has many benefits such as fighting inflammation, dry skin, and more. This is another product that would work great as a gift because it is packaged in an elegant looking glass bottle with a gold lid and gold details. A little goes a long way so once you purchase your own, you won’t be needing another one any time too soon.
Ceres – Dragon Balm
Any Ceres topical that you’ll pick up will impress you. They are created with the best raw ingredients including oils, waxes, and fragrances sourced from France. My favorite Ceres topical is the Dragon Balm roll-on stick. The Dragon Balm ingredients include but are not limited to menthol, numbing Camphor, clove, and extracted cannabis oils. While I don’t use this topical as a skincare product, I do use it for many other things. In my experience, the cooling menthol and numbing camphor worked well together to distract me from any mild aches I felt. It helps my sore muscles after a tough workout or my feet after a long workday. In addition, the packaging comes in the form of a roll-on stick which is less of a mess and you can properly put enough on without putting on too much.
