This Memorial Day weekend, immerse yourself in the beauty of the local Native American culture at the Expo ’74 50th Celebration Pow-Wow at the Falls. The roots of Native American culture run deep in this region, bringing to life a rich past through language, food, music, and traditions that still exist today. Honoring that heritage is a primary pillar of this summer’s Expo ’74 50th Anniversary Celebration. The highlight of the Expo ’74 Tribal Pillar events is a Pow-Wow at the Spokane Convention Center on May 25th-26th. This event features traditional dance, drumming, music, and regalia. The Pow-Wow will bring together tribal communities from across the region for a meaningful and joyful celebration.
Cats: The Musical
If you’re in a musical mood this Memorial Day weekend, consider seeing Cats at the Spokane Civic Theatre. Cats is one of the longest-running shows in West End and Broadway history. The original play premiered at the New London Theatre in 1981, where it played for 21 years and almost 9,000 performances. In 1983 the Broadway production received seven Tony awards including Best Musical, and ran for 18 years. Since its world premiere, Cats has been presented all over the world and still performs to millions of audience members worldwide.
