Get ready for a weekend of hilarious live unscripted comedy, unique performances, and unmatched creativity at the 2025 Northwest Improv Fest. Bringing together improvisers from across the Pacific Northwest, this festival celebrates the art of improv comedy in all its forms—from fast-paced games to character-driven sketches, all made up on the spot! The Northwest Improv Fest showcases a diverse range of improv styles, giving audiences a unique chance to see performances that will only happen once, for that audience, and never happen again. The Northwest Improv Fest features comedy shows from both local and visiting troupes, workshops led by seasoned performers and teachers, and opportunities for the Spokane community to connect, learn, and grow together. Whether you are an improv enthusiast or just looking for several nights of fun and laughter, this festival is for you.

Next up on our list of April Events in Spokane is First Friday. First Friday is a monthly event designed to showcase the downtown art and retail scene. Downtown retailers and restaurants feature artists, musicians, exclusive activities, product launches, and specialty food and beverages on the first Friday of each month. This First Friday, check out local artists being featured at Avenue West Gallery, Bistango Martini Lounge, Indaba Coffee Roasters, Marmot Art Space, & Spokane Art School. At Avenue West Gallery, you can see the painted works of local artists Maria La Fleur & Genie Maples. If you stroll over to Bistango Martini Lounge, you can enjoy some tunes played by musician Devon Wade while you grab a drink. When you visit Indaba Coffee Roasters, you’ll be able to explore the works of Toby Keough & Gloria Fox while enjoying some live jazz and drinks. Finally, if you head on over to Spokane Art School you’ll be able to enjoy Storytellers, a collection of paintings by Deb Sheldon.

Another one of our featured April Events in Spokane is The Rocky Horror Picture Show. This year marks the 50th Anniversary of The Rocky Horror Picture Show! To celebrate, be sure to catch Absolute Pleasure’s shadow cast performance at The Garland Theater. Absolute Pleasure planted its roots at the Magic Lantern Theater back in 1989 and has been performing in Spokane ever since. After a brief hiatus in the early 2000s, they made their return to the scene at The Garland Theater in 2013 and have continued to perform there ever since. This multi-generational cast continues to carry on the legacy of The Rocky Horror Picture Show here in Spokane. Up next on our list of April Events in Spokane is Broadway’s Hamilton being put on at The First Interstate Center for the Arts. Hamilton is a biographical musical based on the life of Founding Father Alexander Hamilton. This musical features a blend of hip-hop, R&B, pop, soul, and traditional-style show tunes written & composed by Lin-Manuel Miranda. Miranda describes this musical as the tale of “America then, as told by America now.” There are multiple opportunities to see this amazing show at The First Interstate Center for the Arts. Legendary heavy metal band Queensrÿche is making their way to the Northern Quest Resort & Casino to rock the house on April 10th. Queensrÿche is considered one of the leaders in the progressive metal scene of the mid-to-late 1980s. As a matter of fact, they’re considered one of the “Big Three” alongside Dream Theater and Fates Warning. With roots right here in Washington, Queensrÿche has received worldwide acclaim for creating some of the most influential heavy metal albums of all time. El Mercadito

Moving along our list of April Events in Spokane we have El Mercadito. El Mercadito, a Latino Farmers market, is an outdoor cultural market held the last Saturday of every month at AM Cannon Park from 11 am to 3 pm. El Mercadito was developed to create access to free fresh cultural foods, medical services with a CHAS walk-in street clinic, cultural activities, and support for local entrepreneurs and organizations to showcase their products and services. Every month, they serve over 200 families, distribute 7000 pounds of free fresh food, and provide thousands of dollars in vouchers to support BIPOC food businesses. So, if you want to enjoy amazing cultural dishes while supporting a great cause, be sure to check out El Mercadito this April!
