Feeling cooped up in the house? There are still ways to safely get outside during this pandemic. Check out our suggestions of places to visit during quarantine this summer! Just don’t forget to bring you masks and to follow social distancing rules no matter where you go!

Manito Park

The roses have bloomed and the walking paths are wide and spacious so you will be able to stay 6 feet apart from anyone else that might be at the park. The trail is an enclosed loop so you can stop by the Garden for a quick breath of fresh air… and roses! My favorite thing to do here is to find a clearing or bench to sit and meditate on.

John Finch Tree Arboretum

This giant field lends enough room for secluded picnics or a little woodsy adventure. It is a grassy field containing a large collection of trees and woody plants, all of which are labeled for field study. With little streams throughout and multiple open clearings, this is a great spot to hang out at if you’re just wanting to get out of the house. Try to find the little wooden bridge that takes you across a creek!

Bowl and Pitcher

Water, hikes, and swinging bridges. Must I say more? This area located on the Spokane River is a nice spot to cool off at during the hot weather. Once you cross the suspension bridge, you’ll be able to find a couple spots by the water to hang out at or keep walking to complete the 2 mile hike that will loop you back to your starting point. Make sure you are remembering social distancing rules if it gets busy at this location. My favorite part of the hike is finding the clearing with the organized circle of rocks. You’ll know it when you see it.

Nishinomiya Tsutakawa Japanese Garden

This peaceful and beautiful garden that was designed and built by Japanese architects is a quiet place to visit when you’re wanting to get out of the house. There are streams and ponds, some of which have coi fish. If you’re wanting to see the physical embodiment of Spokane and it’s sister city, Nishinmiya, Japan, this is the place to be.
